Strathmill single malt is rare - according to Whiskybase, only 14 expressions have been bottled this year in 2023 - and if you do come across it, it is almost always an independent bottling. Logical when you know that this whisky is intended for the blended market.

We were able to get our hands on a Strathmill barrel 2 years ago and had the contents split into 2 other barrel types at the end of 2022, with the intention of giving the whiskey something extra.

Release 9 is the first of 2 Strathmills that we are now announcing in detail. This expression was finished for 7 months on the Oloroso quarter cask that previously housed our Benrinnes. Hence "refill Oloroso QC" on the label.

NOSE

Grassy, ​​vegetal, apple, hints of lime

 

TASTE

Grapefruit, then pepper & cloves. At the end, slightly sweet influence from the ex-oloroso barrel

Medium to long, pepper
